2010 ELECTIONS

 

Voters will be going to the polls in 2010 to vote on the following positions:

US Senator, US Representative, Governor/Lt Governor, Secretary of State, Attorney General, State Treasurer, Commissioner of Insurance, State Representative 107th District, State Board of Education 6th District, and Judge positions.

At the local level, positions up for election are:

County Commissioner First District, Township Clerk's, Precinct Committee Persons, and Tescott City will be voting on council members.

Individuals interested in filing for a State office, need to contact the Secretary of State's office, Topeka.

Individuals interested in filing for local offices, need to contact the Ottawa County Election office, 307 N Concord, Suite 102, Minneapolis, Ks 67467, 785-392-2279, occlerk@nckcn.com.

Filing information for local offices:

County Commissioner First District: $35 filing fee plus either $175.80, or 8 signatures on petition if Democratic candidate or 27 signatures on petition if Republican candidate.

Township Officers: $1 filing fee.

Precinct Committee People: No filing fee.

Tescott City: $5 filing fee.

All above offices are also required to fill out additional paperwork in the Ottawa County Election Office.

Advance voting for the Primary Election August 3, 2010, begins July 14, 2010.  An application must be filled out before a ballot can be sent.  To obtain an application please call the Ottawa County Election Office, 785-392-2279, or email a request to occlerk@nckcn.com, or www.ottawacounty.org (Advance Voting Info).  The last day to mail advance ballots is July 30, 2010.  Voters may vote in person, in the Election Office until noon August 2, 2010.  Disabled and non-English profiient voters may apply for advance ballots August 3, 2010, but an application still needs to be provided.
